Conditions of Hire

Identified Cats:

By signing this hire form, the person hiring agrees and understands that any cat which is identified must be released immediately – unharmed. Identified cat means any cat that has:

  • A collar or disc around its neck bearing the name and address or telephone number of the owners of the cat or other person entitled to possession of the cat; or

  • A tattoo “M” inside an ear indicating a microchip has been implanted.

Please note: Penalties apply under Section 81B of the Dog & Cat Management Act 1995 for any person who interferes with or removes how a cat is identified. MAXIMUM PENALTY - $5000

Unidentified Cats:

The person hiring further agrees and understands that if they seize or trap an unidentified cat, they must arrange for the trap to be collected by a Council Authorised Officer within 12 hours of trapping the cat.

  • Traps will only be collected between the hours of 9.00am and 2.00pm Monday to Friday.

  • Traps must not be set for the capture of animals on weekends and public holidays. Any cats caught during these times must be released.

Cat traps can be hired for one week at a time from the Council Administration Office for a refundable deposit plus a weekly hire fee as per Council’s Fees and Charges Schedule. Concession card holders will receive a 50% discount on the weekly hire of the trap on presentation of their concession card. If the cat trap is not returned after the agreed time a late fee per week will be charged.

Should you wish to extend you hire period please contact Council prior to the end of the initial hire period. Extensions may not be granted should the trap already be booked by another party.

Note: Penalties apply under the Dog & Cat Management Act 1995 to any person who fails to comply with the above. Failure to comply with these conditions may result in cancellation of this hire agreement.
